Nuby Review: Tear Free Rinse Pail

I had spent some time going through Nuby products and reading reviews and I was super excited to try this one out... the Nuby Tear Free Rinse Pail.
Rozzlyn is 18 months old now and like most kids, doesn't really love water in her eyes... What's funny - is my middle son, Zavery (5) hates it even more... So as great as this works for Rozzlyn, its even more perfect for Zavery. He says, "I hate when soap gets in my eyes because it hurts and makes my eyes hot." The Tear Free Rinse Pail has been great at assisting us with bathtime. "It features a comfortable grip for mom, a deep, slender base for easy filling in shallow water and a unique tear-free edge. The tear-free edge is soft and contoured so it can be gently placed against your baby's skin to help prevent water from running into your baby's eyes while rinsing their hair." Its a must have in the tub. The only problem I have it that it can be a little tricky to get it positioned in the right spot.

Example: See left... If it isn't pushed up against the skin when you pull up to dump the water it will drip...
However - if you raise it up a bit on their heads, and push the silicone firmly but gently against their skin it creates a nice little seal - preventing the water from passing through.

Overall - another great Nuby product! How could I ever be disappointed when they make so many of great products.

Its POTTY TIME! Nuby Potty Seat Review

It's impossible for me to believe that it is time to start potty training Rozzlyn. SHE IS JUST A BABY!! And by a baby I mean not at all a baby... she is a full on walking, talking, toddler - pooping on the potty. Too much info? Sorry. This is a post about a potty seat - things could get messy. ;)
I should probably start this by saying........ Im sorry Rozzlyn - don't hate me for this when you're 13... I promise I won't (I totally will) pull these pics out to show your first boyfriend. *13? Boyfriend? Ha... Maybe when you're 23* LOVE YOU BABY GIRL!  So Ms. Rozzlyn its a champ at pooping on the potty. I would say in the last few weeks we have had about 15 poops on the potty... and the Nuby Potty Seat has been a HUGE help at all this progress. While I totally want to throw the potty chair in the back of the closet - keep her in diapers forever - and pretend she will always be my baby girl.... I am aware that she must grow up. And the sooner she is out of diapers, the better. So as usual, Nuby to the rescue..."This small Potty Seat by Nûby™ is one easy-to-clean piece. It has been designed so that little boys and little girls can use it comfortably." It is so perfectly sized that Rozzlyn fits on it perfectly - yet it still slips right between our toilet and sink. Though - the color is so awesome I wouldn't really care if it was out in the open either! We snagged the Teal and I love it. Currently, our favorite thing to do is to brush our teeth on the potty. We always start with a clean potty of course... but I feel like it established two great morning habits in one... brushing our teeth... and the necessary morning potty trip. PLUS - brushing her teeth keeps her distracted and sitting their much longer than if I just place her on the potty... she is usually ready to get up after about 5 seconds. If we're lucky enough to get some potty out - I just dump it in the toilet and wipe out the potty with an antibacterial wipe.  SO SO easy... and if it takes more effort that than (which it usually never does) I just wipe it out with some dish soap and a cloth diaper wipe/rag. SO SIMPLE! Highly, HIGHLY recommended if you want a simple potty without all the bells and whistles. We used to have one that played music every time they went potty. Fun - until it stopped working properly and was going off constantly with or without a sucessful potty trip. All that stuff just isn't necessary. Keep it simple - sleek - and stylish with the Nuby Potty Seat.  Available at: www.BuyBabyDirect.com

Nuby Twista-Rattle Review!

Of all the toys that come and go in our world, the Nuby Twista-Rattle is one that will stay around for awhile.

Even with Rozzlyn is asleep, I find myself twisting and clicking it into different shapes... and feeling the different textures. Im not sure why I enjoy it so much, haha... but I do. I was probably more excited to get it than she was! I LOVE love LOVE the bright colors, soft textures, and sounds it makes. It is such a simple toy but full of imagination... "The Twista Rattle™ is designed to soothe and comfort teething toddlers. The multiple teething surfaces twist and turn, encouraging the development of your baby’s hand and eye coordination! The Twista Rattle is perfectly sized for little hands to hold." Yesterday I found Rozzlyn sitting on the floor trying to balance it on her head saying "HAT! HAT!" The day before that? She was looping it around her arm and foot like a bracelet. I love watching her imagination run wild.  Nuby always amazes me with their amazing creations and this is just another example of that. It is the go to toy in the diaper bag now... it twists up nice and small and fits in the little pockets of my bag... it keeps her entertained and when she gets bored I join in the fun and we come up with some new way to play with it together. Plus - she loves chomping on those nubby edges... proving her with some relief from those teeth popping through. Want one? They are available at: www.amazon.com or www.diapers.com

Nuby helps you transition your kids in so many ways!

My roommate and her daughter have been living with us for awhile now while they looked for a new apartment. While they have been here, they've been sharing the boys' Nuby plates, cups, spoons and what not... When she let us know she was going to moving into her own place soon, I wanted to do something special to help with the transition - and I knew Nuby could help... and the timing couln't have been more perfect.
She was having a rough day when I realized that the special Nuby box had showed up... I told her maybe I could cheer her up... and its safe to say I did.  Nuby sent us over their Fun Feeding Set - "Set includes 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 forks, 2 spoons and 2 tumblers (9oz / 270ml). Each piece is durable enough for every day use and has been sized just right for your little one. They are also easy to clean and are 100% BPA Free!" These are go-to staples in our house... the bowls and plates are used EVERY day - and Maddie has been practicing with the big girl cups! So it was perfect for her to have her own set now to bring to their new place. Aymee is a busy mom on the go - so the travel holder for the spoons and forks will be great when they're out running around or perfect for a picnic! The Nuby Fun Feeding set is "ideal for children who are beginning to feed themselves. They feature a fun design and are available in a variety of colors."

My favorite part about the set of bowls is that they are microwave safe.  This morning I made Rozzlyn some oatmeal using one of hers... Its always nice being able to do everything I need to feed her out of one bowl. Less mess and easy cleanup. Want to get your own set? Fear: Choose Love Not Hate

It's times like this that I find myself stricken with fear.  A family woke up yesterday morning, many families - and spent the afternoon at the Boston marathon... Some of them aren't coming home tonight... Kids woke up and went to school on the day of the sandy hook shooting. A day no different than today when I dropped off my son to do the same. Some of those kids didn't go home that night. This fear - this utter fear that even leaving the house isn't safe anymore... When you freeze up inside just doing normal things people do every day. Going to school, taking the bus, an airplane, or like today, going for a run. Safe things, family friendly events that have turned into nightmares. Today people saw things that I have only imagined in my most horrific dreams. And even that was likely not a comparison for the real events that took place. How can I raise my kids in a world full of such hate and chaos? That fear can't beat me. I can't let it win. Instead it festers inside of me and drives me to be a better parent... A better wife... A better person. It reminds me to ALWAYS kiss my kids before I drop them off for school, before bed, and 100 times in between... To always tell them I love them... Because I never know when it could be my last. It drives me to raise great, confident and independent children that know the difference between right and wrong... Love and hate... I can't control the actions of someone else... But, I can control the way I handle it and I can teach my kids to do the same. Today someone thought it was a good idea to blow up men, women and children. Innocents just watching a race. Maybe a child watching his dad cross the finish line. There is no excuse. It's unacceptable... There is no reason valid enough for this to have happened today. But I won't let it beat me. I won't live in fear... We all deserve better than that... And it starts with our kids. Now a days it seems if you're being bullied, don't agree with someone about their race, religion, sexual orientation, or just need some extra attention the solution is easy... Bring a gun to school... Blow up some random strangers... Fly a plane into a building... You will get all the attention you want and more - spread like wild fire across the media. Or maybe - we could just spend a little more time paying attention in the beginning... Teach our children the difference between right and wrong... Love and hate... And one by one we can make this world a better place.
